The Whiteline KDT973 is a billet aluminium front engine torque arm designed to replace the standard rubber-bushed torque arm found on a range of Hyundai models. If you’ve noticed hesitation, shudder, or a vague feeling when accelerating or lifting off the throttle, worn or overly soft engine mounts are a common cause – and this part directly addresses that.

What Does a Torque Arm Do?

When your engine produces power, it naturally tries to twist and rock within the engine bay. The torque arm (sometimes called a pitch stop or pitch mount) is the component that resists this movement, keeping the engine and drivetrain stable under load. The standard factory torque arm uses soft rubber bushings, which are designed primarily for comfort and noise reduction – not for performance or precise power delivery.

Whiteline’s replacement uses low-compliance bushings (firmer, more rigid bushings that limit unwanted movement) inside a precision-machined aluminium body. The result is noticeably reduced engine and drivetrain movement, which translates directly into sharper throttle response – both when you accelerate and when you lift off.

What You Can Expect

Fitting the KDT973 is particularly worthwhile on higher-powered or modified engines, where the standard rubber bushings can be overwhelmed by increased torque output. Even on a standard engine, the improvement in throttle feel and reduction in drivetrain slop can be noticeable, especially during spirited driving or on track days.

It’s worth being realistic: a firmer torque arm will introduce a small increase in NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness – the minor vibrations and sounds that travel through the car). This is a normal trade-off with any performance bushing upgrade, and for most drivers on the road it remains perfectly acceptable.
