Wagner Tuning Mercedes-Benz A35 AMG Intercooler Kit with Intake System

Designed specifically for the Mercedes-AMG 2.0 litre turbocharged engine (M260.920), this Wagner Tuning kit replaces the restrictive factory indirect intercooler setup with a high-performance front-mounted core, paired with an optimised air intake system. The result is cooler, denser charge air reaching the engine, which helps the turbo deliver consistent power even when working hard on track or in warmer weather.

Why upgrade the intercooler?

The job of an intercooler is to cool the compressed air coming from the turbocharger before it enters the engine. Cooler air is denser, which means more oxygen, better combustion and more reliable power. The standard A35 AMG intercooler is compact and can struggle to keep temperatures down during sustained spirited driving, leading to power loss as the engine pulls timing to protect itself.

The Wagner Tuning core measures 287 mm x 185 mm x 115 mm, offering 154% more core volume than the OEM unit. The cast aluminium end tanks are developed using CAD design and CFD airflow simulation to keep internal pressure drop low while maximising heat transfer. A heat-conducting anti-corrosion coating helps maintain cooling efficiency over the long term.

Optimised Air Intake System

Because the new intercooler mounts in the area previously occupied by the factory airbox, the kit includes a relocated intake system that sits in the right-hand wheel arch. This shorter, more direct routing uses a Ø76mm intake pipe and an open sport air filter chosen for high flow with low restriction. Wagner Tuning report an air mass flow increase of around +50%, which sharpens throttle response and supports the gains made by the larger intercooler.

Important: the intercooler can only be fitted in combination with the supplied air intake system. The factory airbox must be fully removed during installation.
