Wagner Tuning BMW/Toyota B58C Engine OPF-Model Sport Cat Downpipe Kit (200CPSI)
This downpipe kit from Wagner Tuning is designed specifically for B58C (B58.2) engines fitted with an OPF – that’s an Otto Particle Filter, a factory exhaust filter used on newer petrol engines to reduce emissions. The OPF is known to restrict exhaust flow, and this kit tackles that issue directly by replacing the restrictive standard downpipe with a free-flowing alternative that helps the engine breathe more efficiently.
The result is reduced exhaust back pressure, allowing the turbocharger to spool more freely. In practical terms, you can expect improved throttle response, a useful gain in power and a noticeable increase in torque across the rev range. This particular variant includes a 200CPSI racing metal catalytic converter with EU6 coating, offering a performance-focused upgrade while retaining a catalyst in the exhaust system.
What Makes This Downpipe Different
Wagner Tuning have engineered this kit using CAD design and flow optimisation to ensure the internal geometry promotes maximum gas flow with minimal restriction. It is manufactured from high-quality cast stainless steel (grade 1.4301, commonly known as SS304), which offers excellent heat and corrosion resistance for a long service life.
The kit features a 3.5 inch diameter pipe with an adapter to connect directly to the original exhaust system (the AGA – the standard rear silencer assembly), making fitment straightforward. Two lambda probe connections are included for accurate exhaust gas measurement, which is important for engine management. Wagner Tuning also note that this design helps reduce the thermal load on the turbocharger, which can contribute to longer turbo life over time.

In the words of the Vehicle Standards Agency (VCA), type approval provides "confirmation that production and samples of a design will meet specified performance standards".
For emissions components this encompasses noise, emissions and balanced back pressure, which have a strong influence on maintaining engine performance (power), and fuel efficiency. Type approval ensures that an aftermarket component will reach, or exceed the performance standard of the corresponding OE part. Type-approval then, is a certain guarantee that an end user will receive a product of OE equivalent performance attributes. Products on the Progressive Parts website that meet this approval will be clearly marked or labelled EC or ECE approved.
