The BMW M2, M3 and M4 fitted with the 3.0-litre S55 twin-turbo engine use an indirect charge air cooling system. Rather than cooling the intake air directly, this system uses a separate low-temperature water circuit to carry heat away from the charge air cooler (the intercooler). Keeping that water as cool as possible is essential for consistent performance, particularly under hard driving, track use, or when the engine is running modified power outputs.

The standard radiator on these cars does the job adequately for everyday use, but under sustained high-performance driving it can struggle to keep low-temperature coolant temperatures in check. What This Radiator Does

This Wagner Tuning unit replaces the OEM front-mounted low-temperature radiator with a significantly larger, higher-capacity alternative. It is built using a high-performance competition racing mesh core, which substantially increases the volume of coolant the radiator can hold and the surface area available for heat transfer. The result is more efficient cooling without restricting airflow to surrounding components such as the main engine coolant radiator.

The core is finished with a thermally conductive anti-corrosion coating, helping to protect the unit over the long term and maintain reliable cooling performance even in demanding conditions.

How It Compares to Standard

The near-doubling of coolant volume means the system has far greater thermal capacity. It takes longer to heat up and recovers more quickly between hard runs. The increased surface area also improves the rate at which heat is transferred from the coolant to the passing air, helping keep charge air temperatures lower for longer.
