Wagner Tuning BMW F-Series N55 EVO2 Competition Sport Cat Package (Pre 06/2013)
This package combines two of Wagner Tuning’s most effective performance upgrades for the BMW N55 engine into a single kit: the EVO2 Competition intercooler and the 76mm downpipe with a 200 CPSI racing catalytic converter. Together, they tackle two of the biggest restrictions on a turbocharged engine – hot intake air and limited exhaust flow – helping the N55 produce more consistent power and torque, particularly during spirited driving or on warmer days.

EVO2 Competition Intercooler (Part No. 200001071)
The intercooler (also known as a charge air cooler) cools the compressed air coming from the turbocharger before it enters the engine. Cooler, denser air burns more efficiently, which means better throttle response and more power. The standard BMW intercooler copes well at factory output, but becomes a restriction once power increases or when the car is driven hard for extended periods – often resulting in heat soak and reduced performance.
Wagner’s EVO2 unit is a substantial upgrade over the original:
- 68% larger flow area than the factory intercooler, allowing more air through with less restriction
- 90% greater charge air volume, improving combustion efficiency and consistency
- High-quality tube-fin core with internal turbulators (small inserts that increase air-to-surface contact for better cooling)
- Cast aluminium end tanks shaped using CFD flow analysis (computer simulation used to optimise airflow) to reduce back pressure
- Anti-corrosion coating with strong heat transfer properties for long-term durability
- Compatible with your original charge air hoses – no additional adapters required
Despite being significantly larger than the standard unit, the EVO2 intercooler weighs just 8.6 kg and fits directly in place of the original with minimal modification.

N55 76mm Downpipe with 200 CPSI Racing Catalyst
The downpipe is the section of exhaust that bolts directly to the turbocharger. On standard BMW N55 cars, the factory downpipe and catalytic converter are one of the biggest restrictions in the exhaust system. By replacing them with a larger diameter pipe and a high-flow catalyst, exhaust gases can leave the turbo more freely. This reduces back pressure, helps the turbo spool more quickly and unlocks additional power and torque – especially when paired with a tune.
