Wagner Tuning BMW F-Series B58 Sport Cat Downpipe Kit – 200CPSI
The Wagner Tuning Sport Cat Downpipe is one of the most effective bolt-on exhaust upgrades available for the BMW B58 3.0-litre turbocharged engine. By replacing the restrictive factory downpipe (the section of exhaust pipe that connects directly to the turbocharger) with a freer-flowing alternative, exhaust gases can escape more quickly and with less resistance. The result is reduced back pressure, which translates into sharper throttle response, improved power delivery and a noticeable increase in torque across the rev range.
200CPSI Sport Catalytic Converter
This variant is fitted with a 200CPSI sport cat. CPSI stands for “cells per square inch” – a lower number means larger cells within the catalytic converter, allowing exhaust gases to flow through more freely than a standard OEM cat. The 200CPSI unit uses an EU6 metal substrate coating, striking a sensible balance between flow and emissions filtration.
Construction and Design
The downpipe is built from cast stainless steel (grade 1.4301 / SS304), which offers strong resistance to the high heat and corrosive conditions inside the exhaust system. The pipe itself measures 3.5 inches in diameter and includes an adapter to mate with the original exhaust system, so no other exhaust modifications are required. Two lambda probe ports (oxygen sensor connections) are included to maintain compatibility with the engine’s exhaust monitoring.
The kit is a direct replacement for BMW original part number 18328631625 and is described by Wagner Tuning as a 100% accuracy-of-fit part for supported vehicles.
What to Expect
On a standard, unmodified B58, this downpipe can support modest power and torque gains on its own, with more significant results when paired with an ECU remap. The CAD-designed, flow-optimised construction also helps reduce heat build-up around the turbocharger, which can have a positive effect on turbo longevity over time.

Important Fitment Notes
This downpipe is only compatible with non-OPF and non-GPF vehicles. OPF (Otto Particle Filter) and GPF (Gasoline Particle Filter) are factory particulate filter systems fitted to later B58 models – if your car has one of these, this kit will not fit. Check your vehicle’s registration documents or consult your dealer if you are unsure.
An error light in the DME (the engine management system) is possible after fitting. This is typically related to catalyst monitoring and may require an appropriate tune or software update to resolve.
Supported vehicles include the BMW F20/F21 M140i, F22/F23 M240i, F30/F31/F34 340i, F32/F33/F36 440i, G30/G31/G38 540i, G32 640i GT, G12 740i, X3 G01 M40i and X4 G02 M40i – covering model years approximately 2015 to 2018 depending on specification. In the words of the Vehicle Standards Agency (VCA), type approval provides "confirmation that production and samples of a design will meet specified performance standards".
For emissions components this encompasses noise, emissions and balanced back pressure, which have a strong influence on maintaining engine performance (power), and fuel efficiency. Type approval ensures that an aftermarket component will reach, or exceed the performance standard of the corresponding OE part. Type-approval then, is a certain guarantee that an end user will receive a product of OE equivalent performance attributes. Products on the Progressive Parts website that meet this approval will be clearly marked or labelled EC or ECE approved.
