The downpipe is the section of exhaust that connects the turbocharger outlet to the rest of the exhaust system. The factory unit is built to a cost and emissions brief, which means it prioritises restriction over flow. Wagner’s replacement is designed with performance in mind, using a larger 76mm diameter pipe and a high-flow sports catalytic converter to let exhaust gases escape more freely.

What’s Included and How It’s Built

The kit is manufactured from high-quality 1.4301 grade stainless steel (also known as SS304), which offers strong resistance to heat and corrosion over the long term. The design was developed using CAD (computer-aided design) software to ensure accurate fitment and consistent performance. It includes two lambda sensor ports – lambda sensors are the oxygen sensors your engine uses to monitor and adjust the fuel mixture – so your car’s engine management system continues to function correctly after fitting.

The sports catalytic converter included in this kit is rated at 200 CPSI (cells per square inch – a measure of how fine the internal honeycomb structure is) and features an EU6 coating. This means it still performs a meaningful level of exhaust gas filtration, while flowing significantly better than the original catalytic converter.

Important: Error Display Warning

Fitting this downpipe may trigger a fault code or warning light on the DME (the car’s engine management unit). This is not uncommon when replacing the factory catalytic converter with a higher-flowing sports cat, as the readings from the rear lambda sensor will differ from the standard component.

If a warning light appears, it can usually be addressed through a compatible ECU remap or software adjustment carried out by a qualified tuner. We recommend planning for this as part of the installation process to ensure the car runs cleanly and without dashboard warnings after fitting.
