The Wagner Tuning Competition Intercooler Bundle is a direct upgrade for the Audi SQ5 FY 3.0 TFSI, designed to keep charge air temperatures under control when the standard cooler starts to struggle. Whether you’re running the car hard on track, towing in warm weather, or simply want consistent performance from a tuned engine, this kit gives the 3.0 TFSI the cooling capacity it deserves.

Compared to the original equipment intercooler, the Wagner core offers a 134% larger flow area and 105% larger charge air volume, which translates to lower intake temperatures, more stable power delivery, and reduced heat soak during hard or extended driving.

Why upgrade the intercooler?

An intercooler cools the compressed (charged) air from the turbo before it enters the engine. Cooler air is denser, which means more oxygen, better combustion, and more reliable power. When the standard intercooler reaches its limits, the ECU pulls timing and reduces boost to protect the engine – so you lose performance the harder you drive. A larger, more efficient core helps prevent this.

Core design and construction

The Competition core uses a high quality tube fin design with internal turbulators, which improve heat transfer by mixing the air as it passes through. The cast aluminium end tanks were developed in CAD and refined using CFD flow analysis, giving smooth airflow with minimal back pressure – so you gain cooling without choking the turbo.

An anti-corrosion coating protects the core while still allowing efficient heat dissipation, and despite the much larger size the unit weighs in at just 9.5 kg. The complete assembly has been pressure tested up to 6 bar.
