This Wagner Tuning downpipe kit is built specifically for the Audi SQ5 FY fitted with the 3.0 TFSI petrol engine. It replaces the restrictive factory downpipe (the section of exhaust pipe that bolts directly to the turbocharger) with a free-flowing, performance-focused alternative. The result is reduced exhaust backpressure, allowing the turbo to spool more freely and the engine to breathe better throughout the rev range.

At the heart of the kit is a high-quality 300CPSI (cells per square inch) metal sports catalytic converter with an EU6-spec coating. A higher cell count provides plenty of surface area for exhaust gases to pass through efficiently, while still maintaining a proper catalytic function. Compared to the standard cat, this unit flows significantly better without compromising on build quality.

Performance Benefits

Beyond the obvious flow gains, the improved exhaust path helps reduce heat build-up around the turbocharger, which can contribute to longer turbo life. Expect a noticeable improvement in throttle response and mid-range torque, especially when paired with a compatible ECU remap. On its own, the downpipe will provide a moderate gain; combined with tuning, it really lets the 3.0 TFSI engine show what it can do.

You will also notice a slightly deeper exhaust note, particularly under load, without the drone often associated with full decat solutions.

An engine management warning light (DME error) is likely to appear after fitment, as the vehicle’s ECU detects a change in catalytic converter performance. This is normal and expected with any sports cat or decat installation, and is typically resolved through ECU tuning.
