The VBT Road+ front brake pad set is a high-performance upgrade designed for fast road driving and light track day use on VAG MQB platform vehicles. Developed by Vagbremtechnic, these pads have been put through a thorough development process to deliver a meaningful step up from standard brake pads, without the compromises that often come with full track-focused compounds.

What Makes These Pads Different?
Standard OEM (original manufacturer) brake pads are built with everyday commuting in mind. They work well in normal conditions, but can begin to fade or feel less responsive when pushed harder or when heat builds up. The VBT Road+ compound is formulated to handle more demanding conditions while remaining entirely road legal and suitable for daily use.
The friction coefficient – a measure of how much grip or “bite” the pad generates against the brake disc – is rated at 0.48mu. This is noticeably higher than most standard pads, meaning you get stronger, more responsive braking from both cold and warm temperatures. Importantly, these pads also offer good cold bite, so they perform well right from the first press of the brake pedal, not just once warmed up.

Road Legal and Environmentally Considered
The Road+ pads carry R90 approval, which is a European regulatory standard confirming the pads meet minimum safety requirements for road use. They are also 100% metal free, making them kinder to your brake discs and reducing the metallic particulate matter associated with some performance compounds. This earns them an Environmental Category N rating.
Quiet and Controllable
One concern with performance brake pads is noise – some compounds can produce a grinding or squealing sound, particularly when cold. The Road+ pads are engineered for quiet operation, making them a realistic everyday option rather than a compromise you have to live with. The compound also offers good modulation, meaning the braking force builds progressively as you press the pedal, rather than feeling sudden or difficult to judge.

0 IN STOCK in blue means our primary warehouse does not have unallocated stock, but our UK partners do. Often these can be shipped quickly and efficiently. You'll be notified via the Track My Order page if further delays are unavoidable.
MADE TO ORDER in blue means we've partnered with a supplier which primarily makes their products to order. It's not on our shelf, but your order goes into production immediately.
0 IN STOCK in orange means everybody we work with is unfortunately out of stock. Stock is not available in the UK. The best course of action is to place an order to create an allocation from the next batch arriving.

In the words of the Vehicle Standards Agency (VCA), type approval provides "confirmation that production and samples of a design will meet specified performance standards".
For emissions components this encompasses noise, emissions and balanced back pressure, which have a strong influence on maintaining engine performance (power), and fuel efficiency. Type approval ensures that an aftermarket component will reach, or exceed the performance standard of the corresponding OE part.
Type-approval then, is a certain guarantee that an end user will receive a product of OE equivalent performance attributes.
Products on the Progressive Parts website that meet this approval will be clearly marked or labelled EC or ECE approved.
