The Turbo Systems Stage 1 upgraded turbocharger set is a direct-fit upgrade for Audi 4.0 TFSI models, including popular RS6 (C7), RS7 (4G) and S8 applications. It is designed to bolt to the original exhaust manifolds, so you keep factory-style fitment while gaining a strong increase in power potential.
This Stage 1 kit is a lighter, plug-and-play upgrade for the 4.0 TFSI engine. It suits RS models aiming for higher power, and is also a smart choice for S6, S7 and A8 owners wanting RS-level performance with stock-like installation.
What is upgraded and why it matters
Compared with the standard factory turbos, this Stage 1 set includes several key improvements to handle higher boost and power levels:
- Dual ceramic ball bearings – reduce friction inside the turbo, helping it to spool (build boost) faster and cope better with heat and load over time.
- Enlarged billet compressor wheels – machined from solid and reinforced to manage higher boost pressure and airflow, supporting much higher power than stock.
- Enlarged turbine wheels – improve exhaust gas flow through the turbo, helping the engine breathe better at higher RPM and power levels.
- Refurbished housings and new shafts – restore the turbo body to high standards and add new internals for reliability under performance use.
- VSR balancing – each turbo is high-speed balanced on a Vibration Sorting Rig to reduce vibration and improve long-term durability.
The result is a turbo set that can support around 800+ hp when used with suitable supporting modifications, mapping and fuel. Actual power gains will depend on your full setup, ECU calibration, fuel quality and condition of the engine.
Important: A proper ECU remap is required to make use of these turbos safely and reliably. You should also ensure your fuel system, cooling and drivetrain are suitable for the target power level.

This Stage 1 turbocharger set is designed for Audi 4.0 TFSI engines using the standard exhaust manifolds, making it a direct bolt-on upgrade for many:

MADE TO ORDER in blue means we've partnered with a supplier which primarily makes their products to order. It's not on our shelf, but your order goes into production immediately.

In the words of the Vehicle Standards Agency (VCA), type approval provides "confirmation that production and samples of a design will meet specified performance standards".
For emissions components this encompasses noise, emissions and balanced back pressure, which have a strong influence on maintaining engine performance (power), and fuel efficiency. Type approval ensures that an aftermarket component will reach, or exceed the performance standard of the corresponding OE part.
Type-approval then, is a certain guarantee that an end user will receive a product of OE equivalent performance attributes.
Products on the Progressive Parts website that meet this approval will be clearly marked or labelled EC or ECE approved.
