The Rieger rear diffuser is a direct-fit styling upgrade for the Audi A3 S-Line Saloon (8V) facelift models. It replaces the standard lower rear bumper section with a more purposeful, aggressive-looking panel that suits the S-Line aesthetic well.
What a rear diffuser does
A rear diffuser is the shaped panel fitted beneath the rear bumper. As you drive, air flows under the car and exits at the back – the diffuser controls how that air exits, reducing turbulence. This can help reduce drag and improve high-speed stability, while also giving the rear end a cleaner, sportier appearance.
This Rieger diffuser is designed to match the facelift S-Line rear bumper profile and features a twin tailpipe cut-out on the left side, keeping things looking factory-fitted rather than bolted on.

Finish options
ABS Gloss Black (SKU: 00088184) – Supplied in a ready-to-fit gloss black finish. If you want a clean, smart look without any additional work, this is the option to choose. No painting required.
ABS Satin Black – Requires Painting and Finishing (SKU: 00056804-56805) – Supplied in a satin black primer-ready finish. This option is intended to be painted, either to match your bodywork or to a custom colour. This finish is not final and must be painted by a competent body shop before fitting for best results.
Fitment
This diffuser is designed specifically for the Audi A3 Saloon S-Line (8V) facelift, covering models from 2017 to 2020. It is shaped to fit the facelift S-Line rear bumper and is not suitable for pre-facelift models or other body styles.

In the words of the Vehicle Standards Agency (VCA), type approval provides "confirmation that production and samples of a design will meet specified performance standards".
For emissions components this encompasses noise, emissions and balanced back pressure, which have a strong influence on maintaining engine performance (power), and fuel efficiency. Type approval ensures that an aftermarket component will reach, or exceed the performance standard of the corresponding OE part.
Type-approval then, is a certain guarantee that an end user will receive a product of OE equivalent performance attributes.
