The Ramair RPF-1177 is a direct replacement panel air filter designed to sit in your existing airbox in place of the standard paper filter. It is made from Ramair’s twin-layer reticulated foam – a type of open-cell foam engineered to let air flow through freely while still catching dust and debris effectively. The result is better airflow to your engine compared to a standard paper filter, with no complicated fitting required.

This filter is compatible with a range of classic VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) vehicles including the Audi 80, Audi A6 C4, VW Corrado, and MK2 Golf, among others. What Makes It Different From a Standard Filter?

A standard paper air filter is designed to be replaced at service intervals and prioritises filtration over airflow. Ramair’s foam filter offers a better balance – it flows more air through to the engine while maintaining strong filtration. Improved airflow can support better throttle response and engine breathing, particularly noticeable on performance-tuned or modified engines. It is also MAF safe, meaning it will not shed foam particles or interfere with the Mass Air Flow sensor (the sensor that measures the air entering your engine).

Built to Last

Unlike a paper filter that gets thrown away at each service, the RPF-1177 is designed to be cleaned and reused. The filter is built around a stainless steel cage for structural support – the same type used in Ramair’s motorsport applications – and finished with a rubber polymer surround for a secure, long-lasting seal in the airbox. When it needs a clean, simply use the Ramair Filter Maintenance Kit (CK-003), sold separately.
