This is a complete performance air intake kit from Ramair, designed specifically for transverse 2.0 TFSI engines found across a wide range of VW Group (VAG) vehicles. It replaces the restrictive factory airbox and pipework with a larger, more efficient intake system, allowing the engine to breathe more freely and respond more readily throughout the rev range.

Unlike many competing kits, this system uses a larger 200mm base diameter filter (most competitors use 180mm) and features a 90mm intake neck that maintains that wider diameter all the way through to the MAF sensor point. The MAF sensor (Mass Airflow Sensor) measures the air entering the engine – keeping the bore size consistent across the full intake path means less restriction and more consistent airflow readings, which helps the engine management system run more accurately.

The heat shielding is a particularly well-considered part of this kit. Cooler air is denser than hot air, which means the engine can use more of it per combustion cycle. By shielding the filter from the warmth of the exhaust manifold, the kit helps maintain the benefit of cold air induction rather than drawing in heat-soaked air from within the engine bay.

K03 and K04 Compatibility

The 2.0 TFSI engine was fitted with two different turbocharger variants – the K03 and the more powerful K04 (as found in the S3, Golf GTI Edition 30, and similar higher-output models). This kit is designed to fit both variants. If your vehicle uses the K03 turbo, you will need to fit the included blanking plug during installation – this is provided in the kit.

Important Fitment Notes

This kit only fits 2.0 TFSI vehicles where the air filter is located within the engine cover and the battery is situated in the engine bay. If your vehicle has the battery in the boot or the filter positioned elsewhere, this kit is not suitable.

Left-hand drive (LHD) vehicles may require modification to the rear heat shield due to the different position of the brake servo on LHD cars. This is worth considering before purchasing if your vehicle is LHD.
