The Ramair PRORAM Air Intake Kit is a direct replacement induction system designed for Volkswagen and Audi vehicles fitted with the 1.5 TSI engine. It replaces the restrictive standard airbox with a more free-flowing setup, helping the engine breathe better and respond more sharply.

The kit centres around a pleated synthetic nanofiber performance filter – a high-quality filtration material that flows more air than a standard paper filter while still keeping fine particles out of the engine. Paired with a black powder-coated intake pipe and a heat shield, the system is built to deliver cooler, denser air to the turbocharger. Cooler air is denser, and denser air helps the turbo work more efficiently, which can translate into improved throttle response and a more engaging driving experience.

Performance and Sound

Alongside the performance benefits, the open filter design produces a more noticeable induction sound under acceleration – the turbo spool and intake noise become more audible. This is a characteristic many drivers enjoy, though it is worth setting expectations: the change is more of an enhancement to the driving experience than a dramatic transformation. Real-world gains will vary depending on the vehicle and any other modifications in place.

Heat Management

The included heat shield sits around the filter to help separate it from the warmer air inside the engine bay. Keeping intake temperatures down is important on turbocharged engines, as hot air is less dense and can reduce the efficiency of the turbo. The shield is a practical addition that helps the filter draw in cooler air from outside the immediate engine bay area.

Maintenance

The Ramair filter is reusable and can be cleaned when needed using a dedicated Ramair filter maintenance kit (available separately). This makes it a longer-term investment compared to disposable paper filters that need replacing outright.

Important: This kit is not compatible with 1.5 TSI engines fitted with a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. A MAF sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine to control fuelling. If your vehicle uses one, this kit is not suitable and fitting it could cause running issues. Please confirm your vehicle’s specification before purchasing.
