Ramair Pleated Intake Kit for BMW G-Series M240i / 340i / 440i (PRK-347-BK)

This Ramair pleated intake kit is a direct replacement for the standard airbox on BMW G-series six-cylinder models. It is designed to reduce airflow restriction, improve throttle response, and give the B58 engine a cleaner, more direct path to pull air through to the turbo. You will also notice a more pronounced induction and turbo sound under acceleration – deeper and more engaging than standard, without becoming intrusive at a cruise.

The kit uses a rotomoulded intake pipe (a smooth, moulded plastic pipe designed for consistent internal flow) paired with a CNC-machined heatshield and a two-piece carbon fibre top cover. The heatshield and cover work together to help shield the filter from hot engine bay air, which can rob power if left unchecked. Cooler, denser air into the turbo generally means better combustion and more consistent performance.

What it actually does

The factory airbox on these models prioritises noise reduction and packaging, which means it is not optimised for airflow. Under load, this can cause a pressure drop before the turbo inlet – meaning the turbo has to work slightly harder to pull in the same volume of air. Replacing it with this Ramair kit reduces that restriction and smooths the airflow path.

On a standard, unmodified car, expect a small but noticeable improvement in throttle sharpness and mid-range response, along with a more rewarding intake sound. If the car has been remapped or you are planning supporting modifications, the increased flow capacity of this kit gives the tune more to work with and can contribute to holding power gains more consistently.

No remap is required for this kit to function. It is compatible with the factory ECU calibration straight from the box.

Filter maintenance

The pleated filter is washable and reusable. Clean and re-oil it periodically using a suitable Ramair filter cleaning kit to keep it performing as intended. A blocked or poorly maintained filter will reduce the benefit of the kit over time.
