This performance induction kit from Ramair is designed specifically for the Land Rover Defender 5.0 V8 P525 (L663, 2021 onwards). It replaces the standard factory air intake system with a higher-flowing setup, helping to feed the supercharger (a forced induction system that compresses air into the engine to produce more power) with a greater volume of cooler, cleaner air.

The result is improved throttle response, a more free-revving feel, and a noticeably better engine sound – particularly the supercharger whine that the 5.0 V8 is well known for. This is not a dramatic power transformation, but a genuine improvement in how the engine breathes and responds.

Why It Makes a Difference

The factory air intake on the Defender V8 is designed around noise regulations, packaging constraints, and cost – not outright performance. Ramair’s kit removes those restrictions by using less-restrictive foam filters and smoother, larger-bore pipework. This allows the supercharger to draw air more freely, which can sharpen throttle response and improve the overall driving feel throughout the rev range.

The aluminium heat shields play an important role here too. Cooler air is denser, meaning it contains more oxygen per volume – and more oxygen means more efficient combustion.
