The standard intake setup in the M5 does a decent job, but like most factory systems it prioritises noise suppression and emissions compliance over outright airflow. Ramair’s kit opens things up – allowing the engine and turbos (the forced-induction compressors that push air into the engine under pressure) to draw in air more efficiently. A Complete Intake System, Not Just a Filter Swap

Rather than a simple filter upgrade, this is a full replacement intake system. The oversized carbon fibre intake pipes replace the restrictive factory pipework, while the precision-shaped carbon fibre heat shields sit in place of the original airboxes. These use the existing OEM (factory) air ducting to channel cool air from outside the engine bay directly to the filters. Keeping intake air cool matters – cooler, denser air helps the engine produce power more consistently, particularly under sustained hard driving.

The filters are Proram pleated high-flow units, which offer greater airflow capacity than standard panel filters while still providing effective filtration. They are also serviceable – you can clean and re-oil them rather than replacing them outright. The correct maintenance product for these filters is the CK-003 service kit.

What to Expect from This Upgrade
