This kit from Ramair brings together three upgrades for the intake system on MQB platform vehicles running 1.8 and 2.0 TSI/TFSI engines. Rather than buying individual parts, you get a matched set: a high-performance foam panel filter, a silicone intake hose, and an oversized turbo inlet elbow. Together, they replace key sections of the standard plastic and paper intake system with better-quality components that help air flow more freely to the turbo and engine.

Available in three hose colours – Black, Red, or Blue – so you can choose whichever suits your engine bay best.

Ramair Foam Panel Filter

The panel filter is a direct drop-in replacement for the standard paper air filter. It sits in the original airbox, so no modifications are needed to fit it. Ramair’s twin-layer Aeriform foam is used across their motorsport applications and is designed to filter dust effectively while allowing a higher volume of air to pass through compared to a standard paper element.

The filter measures 290mm x 177mm and features a stainless steel cage for structural support, along with a rubber polymer surround for a clean, precise fit. Importantly, it is MAF-safe – the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor measures the air entering the engine, and some aftermarket filters can cause issues with readings. This filter is designed to work correctly with the standard sensor.

Unlike a paper filter, this foam filter is washable and reusable – clean it, re-oil it, and it’s ready to go again. There is no need to buy a replacement filter element each service interval.

Silicone Intake Hose

The standard intake hose on these engines is made from plastic. While it does the job, the shape can create turbulence that slightly restricts airflow. Ramair’s silicone replacement hose uses a constant-radius (smooth, consistent curve) design to reduce this restriction at the first stage of the intake system.

It is made from multi-ply silicone with fabric mesh reinforcement, making it more durable and heat-resistant than the OEM plastic part. It is a direct fit replacement and works with both the standard airbox and aftermarket induction kits that mount in the original airbox position.

The kit includes a pair of stainless steel W2 hose clamps, replacing the awkward OEM spring clips that can be fiddly to work with.

Oversized Turbo Inlet Elbow

The turbo inlet elbow is the section of pipework that connects the intake hose directly to the turbocharger inlet. On 1.8 and 2.0 TFSI EA888 engines, the standard elbow is a known restriction point – its internal diameter is smaller than it needs to be, which can limit how freely air enters the turbo.
