NGK BKR5EQUPA Spark Plug – Quad Ground, Laser Platinum
This NGK spark plug is built for consistent ignition and long service life. It uses a fine platinum centre electrode for a strong spark with less voltage. Four ground electrodes help maintain reliable firing as the plug wears.
The projected tip places the spark where the mixture burns best. A built-in resistor reduces electrical noise that can affect the radio or ECU. It is pre-gapped for typical factory settings and is suited to petrol engines that specify a 14 mm thread with long reach.

In the words of the Vehicle Standards Agency (VCA), type approval provides "confirmation that production and samples of a design will meet specified performance standards".
For emissions components this encompasses noise, emissions and balanced back pressure, which have a strong influence on maintaining engine performance (power), and fuel efficiency. Type approval ensures that an aftermarket component will reach, or exceed the performance standard of the corresponding OE part.
Type-approval then, is a certain guarantee that an end user will receive a product of OE equivalent performance attributes.
