The MST Performance air intake kit is a straightforward upgrade for Volvo S60 and V60 models fitted with the Drive-E petrol engine. Why Upgrade the Air Intake?

The factory airbox is designed with cost and noise reduction in mind, not outright performance. It limits how much air can flow into the engine, which in turn limits how efficiently the turbocharger can work. Swapping it for the MST kit removes that restriction, giving the turbo a cleaner, more direct path to pull cold air through. Cold, dense air contains more oxygen, which helps the engine burn fuel more effectively – contributing to that noticeable improvement in throttle response and power delivery.

The dry pleated filter used in this kit is worth highlighting. Unlike oiled filters, it requires no messy re-oiling – just remove, clean, and refit when needed. It also poses no risk of contaminating your mass airflow sensor (MAF), a common concern with oiled aftermarket filters.
