If you’re running a hybrid turbo on your VAG MQB platform car, the standard airbox quickly becomes a bottleneck. This is the V2 version of the MST MQB induction kit (MST-VW-MK777), constructed from crosslinked roto-moulded polyethylene – a tough, heat-resistant plastic that holds its shape under engine bay temperatures. The key upgrade over the standard kit is the enlarged turbo elbow, which is the curved pipe connecting the intake to the turbocharger inlet. This wider elbow is better matched to the larger inlet requirements of hybrid turbos, reducing restriction where it matters most.

What This Kit Does

Replacing the factory airbox with this kit allows a greater volume of cooler, denser air to reach the turbocharger. Cooler air contains more oxygen, which helps the engine burn fuel more efficiently. The result is improved throttle response – the engine feels more eager and reacts more quickly when you press the accelerator – along with a noticeable induction sound that many drivers enjoy.

On a standard vehicle this kit offers a worthwhile improvement, but it is particularly well suited to cars that have already been tuned or have had a hybrid turbo fitted, where the factory intake would otherwise limit the gains achieved elsewhere.
