The Toyota GR Yaris is already a seriously capable performance car straight from the factory, but like most turbocharged engines, its intake system leaves room for improvement. MST Performance have developed this combined intake kit and turbo elbow (also known as a turbo inlet pipe) specifically for the GR Yaris, working together to increase airflow into the turbocharger and improve how the engine responds when you put your foot down.

What Does This Kit Include and What Does It Do?

This kit pairs MST’s cold air intake with a larger-diameter turbo elbow – the pipe that feeds air directly into the turbocharger inlet. The factory pipe is narrower and more restrictive by design. By replacing it with a wider, smoother bore pipe, air reaches the turbo more freely and with less resistance. The result is a turbocharger that spools up (builds boost pressure) more quickly, and a throttle that feels noticeably more immediate and responsive.

The intake kit itself replaces the standard airbox with a free-flowing cone air filter and heat shield, drawing in cooler, denser air. Cooler air contains more oxygen, which helps the engine burn fuel more efficiently and produce more power. You will also notice a more mechanical, sporty induction sound under acceleration – a welcome bonus for many GR Yaris owners.

Tested Performance Gains

MST have dyno tested this intake and turbo elbow combination on a Stage 1 tuned GR Yaris and compared the results against the same Stage 1 car running the standard factory intake. The findings showed gains of 20-23whp (wheel horsepower) and up to 21Nm of torque. On a standard, untuned car, recorded gains on the dyno were +14hp at 5,200rpm and +21Nm at 3,500rpm.

It is worth noting that results will vary depending on your car’s current state of tune, condition, and other modifications. These figures give a realistic indication of what is achievable, but should be treated as a guide rather than a guaranteed outcome.
