The MST Performance air intake kit is a straightforward upgrade for the 2011 to 2015 Hyundai Elantra 1.8 and 2.0. It replaces the standard airbox with a more free-flowing setup, allowing the engine to breathe more easily. The result is improved throttle response, a more engaging induction sound, and measurable performance gains over a standard setup.
The factory airbox is designed with cost and noise reduction in mind, not performance. Swapping it out for this kit means your engine gets a cleaner, less restricted path for cold air, which helps it run more efficiently and respond more crisply when you press the accelerator.
Performance Gains
Dyno testing has shown maximum gains of 12 to 14bhp with this kit fitted. It is worth noting that actual gains will vary depending on the individual vehicle and its current state of tune. On a standard car you can expect a noticeable improvement in throttle response and a more rewarding driving experience. On a car that has already been tuned or modified, the benefits can be even more pronounced, as the engine is better placed to make use of the increased airflow.

Build Quality
MST Performance use powder-coated aluminium for the heat shield and inlet pipe, giving the kit a clean, purposeful look under the bonnet as well as good durability. The dry pleated filter does not require oil to function, which makes servicing simple – just remove, clean, and refit when needed.
Installation is designed to be approachable for most home mechanics, with clear instructions included in the kit. No specialist tools are required for a standard fit.

In the words of the Vehicle Standards Agency (VCA), type approval provides "confirmation that production and samples of a design will meet specified performance standards".
For emissions components this encompasses noise, emissions and balanced back pressure, which have a strong influence on maintaining engine performance (power), and fuel efficiency. Type approval ensures that an aftermarket component will reach, or exceed the performance standard of the corresponding OE part.
Type-approval then, is a certain guarantee that an end user will receive a product of OE equivalent performance attributes.
