MST Performance BMW/Toyota B58 3.0T Catless Downpipe (MST-BW-5804DP)
The MST Performance catless downpipe is a direct replacement for the restrictive factory downpipe on BMW and Toyota vehicles fitted with the B58 3.0T engine. By removing the catalytic converter (the emissions filter built into the standard downpipe), exhaust gases can flow more freely from the turbocharger, reducing back pressure and allowing the engine to breathe more efficiently. The result is improved throttle response, a more aggressive exhaust note, and better conditions for power gains – particularly when combined with an ECU remap.
This downpipe is designed specifically for OPF/GPF-equipped models. OPF and GPF stand for Otto Particle Filter and Gasoline Particle Filter – these are additional exhaust filters fitted to newer Euro 6d-compliant engines that further restrict flow. Replacing the standard unit with this catless design is one of the most effective exhaust modifications available for these engines.
Compatible Vehicles
This downpipe fits a range of BMW and Toyota models powered by the B58 3.0T engine, including the BMW M340i, 540i, 640i Gran Turismo, 840i, Z4 M40i, and the Toyota GR Supra MK5 (A90). What to Expect
Fitting a catless downpipe will give you the most noticeable gains in exhaust flow of any single pipe change. On its own, you will likely notice a sharper throttle response and a deeper, more prominent exhaust tone. To get the best performance results and to prevent a check engine light appearing (caused by missing catalyst sensors), a professional ECU tune is strongly recommended after fitting.
Important Notice: This downpipe is intended for off-road and race use only. It is not road legal for use on public roads in the UK or EU, as it does not meet emissions regulations. Fitting this part to a road-going vehicle may result in an MOT failure and could affect your vehicle insurance. Please ensure you understand the legal requirements before purchasing.

In the words of the Vehicle Standards Agency (VCA), type approval provides "confirmation that production and samples of a design will meet specified performance standards".
For emissions components this encompasses noise, emissions and balanced back pressure, which have a strong influence on maintaining engine performance (power), and fuel efficiency. Type approval ensures that an aftermarket component will reach, or exceed the performance standard of the corresponding OE part.
Type-approval then, is a certain guarantee that an end user will receive a product of OE equivalent performance attributes.
Products on the Progressive Parts website that meet this approval will be clearly marked or labelled EC or ECE approved.
