MST Performance Air Intake Kit – BMW 540i B58 (G30/G31)

This air intake kit from MST Performance is designed to replace the restrictive standard airbox on the BMW 540i, allowing the B58 turbocharged engine to breathe more freely. The result is improved throttle response, a more engaging induction sound, and a measurable gain in power.

The kit has been developed specifically for the B58-engined 540i in G30 (saloon) and G31 (touring) body styles from 2017 onwards. It works well on both standard vehicles and those that have already been tuned – making it a solid starting point for a performance build, or a useful addition to an existing one.

Why It Makes a Difference

The standard airbox fitted to the BMW 540i is designed with noise reduction and emissions compliance in mind, which can limit how freely air reaches the turbocharger. This MST Performance kit replaces that setup with a less restrictive intake path, feeding cooler, denser air directly to the turbo. Cooler, denser air allows the engine to combust fuel more efficiently, which contributes to the power improvements seen on the dyno.

The dry pleated filter is a practical choice for daily-driven cars – it does not require oiling like some aftermarket filters, and it can be cleaned and reused rather than replaced each service.
