iABED Baffled Aluminium Oil Sump/Pan EA888 Engines

A true baffled oil sump for the EA888 engines is designed to address a common problem that arises in high-performance cars: oil surge.

Oil surge occurs when the oil in the sump sloshes around during hard cornering or braking, causing a momentary loss of oil pressure. This can starve the engine of oil, leading to catastrophic engine failure.

A baffled sump helps to prevent oil surge by reducing the amount of oil sloshing around in the sump during aggressive driving. The baffles act as walls and partitions that break up the surface tension of the oil, preventing it from moving excessively. As a result, the engine receives a constant and reliable supply of oil, even under extreme conditions.

Does a baffled sump require more oil?

No, a baffled sump does not require more oil than a standard sump. In fact, a baffled sump is often shallower than a standard sump, which means it can hold less oil. However, the advantage of a baffled sump is that the oil within it is better utilized and distributed, making it more efficient and effective at keeping the engine lubricated.

Factory GPF model vehicles require the oil level sensor to be modified slightly when installing this sump.

– The stock sump plastic guard / windage tray will need removing when installing this product. The iABED sump will not fit with this left in place!

– The factory sump bolts are used to resecure the new sump. X1 bolt will need cutting down slightly to fit. As you reuse your existing stock sump securing bolts, no sump securing bolts are supplied in this kit!

– The sump is not supplied with sump sealant, or a seal for the oil level sensor. You will be required to purchase these items separately if required.

– To fit your existing oil level sensor into the new sump, you cannot use the factory nuts. You will need to replace with bolts. These bolts are not included with the sump at this time.

– If you have a Polo 6C GTI 1.8 EA888.3, Or an Audi S1 you will notice your vehicle isnt listed above – You can fit this sump however you also need to fit the Golf GTI/R oil pickup pipe, part number 06K115251J. The sump will not fit with the standard pickup pipe fitted on these two vehicles!! – If your vehicle is listed above then you will not need to do this!!
