The FMINT24 is a high-performance intercooler designed specifically for the MQB platforms with the EA888 GEN4 Engine. Developed, produced, and tested at Forge Motorsport’s headquarters in Gloucester UK, this intercooler is engineered to improve the efficiency and performance of the EA888 GEN4 engine.
Designed to fit in the original position of the OEM intercooler, the FMINT24 maximizes available space and reduces inlet air temperature without compromising boost pressure or engine and transmission cooling. The intercooler housing in the MQB chassis is restricted, but Forge Motorsport’s innovative design overcomes these limitations to deliver optimal performance.
The intercooler features increased inlet and outlet sizes, along with a larger volumetric capacity to enhance airflow and accommodate highly tuned stage 3 plus EA888 Gen 4 engines. The design process involved advanced scanning software, traditional measuring methods, and flow dynamics simulations to ensure a perfect fit and performance.
With a focus on improving airflow, the intercooler’s silicone hoses have been designed with a seamless transition at the inlet and outlet junctions, resulting in a 45% increase in surface area. The core design includes different fin configurations and internal capacities, ultimately leading to a bar and plate design with over 83% more volume than the OEM intercooler.
Forge Motorsport extensively tests different cores to fine-tune pressure drop and cooling capabilities, ensuring maximum performance and efficiency. The intercooler has been dyno tested, delivering significant torque gains and a reduction of up to 58% in inlet air temperatures compared to the OEM intercooler.
Decreasing inlet air temperatures improves engine performance, combustion, and reliability.
