Forge Motorsport FMINDK38 Cold Air Induction System for Ford 1.5L 3-Cylinder ST Engine

The Forge Motorsport FMINDK38 is a cold air induction system designed specifically for Ford’s latest generation 1.5-liter 3-cylinder ST engine. As with all manufacturers, the goal is to make smaller engines more efficient and powerful. This presents a challenge for aftermarket manufacturers to improve upon the already fitted components. However, Forge Motorsport has risen to the challenge.

Utilizing their extensive knowledge and experience with Ford models, Forge Motorsport has developed a product that provides genuine improvements over the standard air box. After weeks of real-world testing and dyno experimentation, they have determined that their Forge pleated filter offers the best combination of power, torque, and filtration properties. The filter is made with a high-quality synthetic nanofiber filtration media, maximizing surface area and increasing airflow.

The FMINDK38 also features a velocity stack MAF sensor housing, which optimizes smooth airflow into the MAF sensor housing and inlet tract from the air filter. This design, created through extensive CAD engineering and simulation, further enhances performance. The combination of the filter and MAF sensor housing results in total gains of 4bhp and increased torque throughout the rev range.

In addition to performance improvements, the FMINDK38 also enhances the acoustics of the 1.5 engine, providing a purposeful induction roar under hard acceleration and a turbo flutter when lifting off the throttle. To protect against heat and improve aesthetics, Forge Motorsport includes a laser-cut and powder-coated aluminum shield that surrounds the filter and incorporates the OEM air ducting to direct cold air to the intake.

The FMINDK38 can be installed with the OEM intake pipe or paired with Forge Motorsport’s silicone intake pipe for further airflow smoothing and elimination of metal pipework. It is compatible with other manufacturers’ inlet hoses as well as the original Ford inlet hose.
