Eventuri Toyota GR86 Carbon Fibre Intake
The Eventuri GR86 Carbon Fibre Intake is the result of extensive development, with over 125 dyno runs used to refine its design. Built specifically for the naturally aspirated 2.4L Boxer engine, it replaces the restrictive factory airbox with a fully sealed, high flow system that improves airflow to the engine while keeping intake temperatures low.
Performance Gains
On a stock ECU, the intake delivers a measurable 10-14hp and 10-11ft-lb increase at the top end. Once the car is tuned, drivers can expect significant mid-range gains and a smoother power curve, with the well known dip around 6000rpm largely eliminated.
The 2.4L Boxer is particularly sensitive to intake air temperatures, so Eventuri prioritised a fully sealed design. Testing showed that a higher flowing intake naturally creates engine resonance at 6000rpm, causing a momentary power dip. By experimenting with different intake lengths, single and dual duct openings and internal baffling, Eventuri arrived at a configuration that minimises this resonance while still freeing up airflow at higher RPMs.

Filter Housing Assembly
The filter housing combines Eventuri’s generation 2 filter, an aluminium inlet cowl and an integrated MAF (Mass Air Flow) section. The carbon pod shrouds the reverse mounted filter and smoothly guides airflow down to the MAF section before it enters the inlet tube.
This is a major improvement over the OEM airbox, where airflow enters the front, turns 90 degrees through the panel filter, then turns another 90 degrees into the MAF section. The Eventuri system removes these abrupt direction changes, giving the engine a more direct, less restrictive path. A CNC machined mount secures the MAF sensor reliably to the carbon housing.
Patented Venturi Technology
The filter housing features a smooth reduction in cross sectional area as it tapers towards the tubing. This shape harnesses the Venturi effect, where airflow accelerates while remaining smooth and laminar – effectively acting as a large velocity stack. The bespoke filter design supports this by producing an even velocity profile as air exits the housing.
Carbon Duct
The carbon duct feeds the filter housing with ambient air drawn from the front bumper and grille area. Testing confirmed that a dual feed setup, pulling cold air from both openings in the slam panel, was the least restrictive option. An expanding rubber seal mates the duct to the filter housing, isolating the intake from hot engine bay air while allowing for engine movement. The duct is secured in three positions for a stable fit.
Front Air Scoops
Two laser cut scoops sit behind the lower grille and direct ambient air upwards into the duct opening. These help keep intake air temperatures (IATs) low when the car is moving. Owners running aftermarket oil coolers who cannot fit the scoops will still benefit from the cold air that naturally collects behind the bumper.
Construction Quality
Eventuri use 100% pre-preg carbon fibre with no fibreglass, producing a smooth internal surface that helps maintain clean, undisturbed airflow. Every component is engineered for a specific purpose and finished to a high standard, both visually and functionally.
