Audi S/RS 4.0 TFSI Upgraded Throttle Body
This upgraded throttle body is designed for Audi S and RS models with the 4.0 TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine. It increases airflow into the engine to support higher power, especially on tuned and upgraded turbo setups.
What this throttle body does
The throttle body controls how much air enters the engine. This upgraded unit uses enlarged intake bores, increased from 39.8 mm to 48.6 mm. The larger openings let more air flow into the engine at the same throttle position.
More air, combined with the right tuning and supporting hardware, allows the engine to burn more fuel and make more power. On typical tuned cars with suitable upgrades, this throttle body can support gains of around 20-30 hp compared to the stock part.

Why it matters on 4.0 TFSI engines
The Audi 4.0 TFSI responds very well to tuning and turbo upgrades, but the stock throttle body can become a restriction at higher power levels. By opening up the internal bore size, this upgraded unit helps reduce that restriction.
This is most useful if you have, or plan to have:
- Stage 2 or higher ECU software
- Upgraded turbos or hybrid turbos
- High-flow intake and exhaust hardware
On near-stock cars, the gains will be smaller, but it can still improve throttle response and help prepare the engine for future upgrades.
Fitment and installation notes
This throttle body is designed for popular Audi S/RS models using the 4.0 TFSI V8, including S6, S7, S8, RS6 and RS7 from the C7/D4 generation. Please use the vehicle lookup on the Progressive Parts website or check the “Vehicle Fitment” tab to confirm it suits your specific car, year and engine code.
It is built to work with the original silicone hoses, so it can usually be fitted without extra pipework changes. Professional installation and appropriate ECU calibration are strongly recommended to get the best results and maintain safe engine operation.
Important product information
These upgraded throttle bodies are built using genuine used OEM throttle body bases. The internal bores are machined larger, but the outer housing and core are from used parts. As a result, you should expect some cosmetic signs of use such as light scratches, wear marks or ageing of the aluminium body.
These marks do not affect performance and are normal for this type of modified OEM-based part.

In the words of the Vehicle Standards Agency (VCA), type approval provides "confirmation that production and samples of a design will meet specified performance standards".
For emissions components this encompasses noise, emissions and balanced back pressure, which have a strong influence on maintaining engine performance (power), and fuel efficiency. Type approval ensures that an aftermarket component will reach, or exceed the performance standard of the corresponding OE part.
Type-approval then, is a certain guarantee that an end user will receive a product of OE equivalent performance attributes.
