What is a Torque Mount and Why Does it Matter?

A torque mount (sometimes called a dog bone mount) is one of the brackets that holds your engine in place within the engine bay. The standard item uses soft rubber bushes to absorb vibration, which is comfortable for everyday driving but allows the engine to move around more than ideal when you’re accelerating hard. This movement can cause wheel hop – where the driven wheels briefly lose traction and bounce – and can make gear changes feel less precise.

By replacing the soft rubber with firmer polyurethane bushes, the engine is held more securely, reducing that movement at the source.
