The AIRTEC Motorsport Turbo Elbow for the Hyundai i20N is an enlarged, direct replacement turbo inlet elbow designed to fit with the Airtec induction kit. It is ideal for fast road and track-focused i20N models.
What this turbo elbow does
The turbo elbow is the metal bend that sits between the turbocharger and the air intake pipe. On the standard i20N, this part is quite narrow inside. This creates a restriction, which can slow down airflow and affect how quickly the turbo responds when you press the throttle.
AIRTEC’s upgraded elbow uses a much larger internal diameter and a smoother internal shape. This lets more air reach the turbo more easily, helping the engine respond more sharply and support other breathing upgrades.
Key design improvements
- Original elbow starts at around 43 mm and only opens up to about 53 mm at the widest point.
- AIRTEC elbow gently increases from the turbo outlet up to a large 76 mm diameter.
- Over 50% increase in inlet diameter and 106% increase in cross-sectional area compared to stock.
- Freer-flowing design reduces restriction before the turbo.
In simple terms, the engine can draw in air more easily, which helps the turbo work more efficiently. This can improve throttle response and support power gains, especially when combined with other upgrades such as an intake, intercooler, exhaust or ECU remap (software tuning of the engine computer).
Construction and kit contents
The elbow is made from strong cast aluminium for durability and good heat resistance. It comes finished in a smart black powder coat with a cast AIRTEC Motorsport logo.
The kit includes:
- Cast aluminium turbo elbow with enlarged internal bore
- 76 mm silicone connector to match the larger outlet size
- All required fixtures and fittings
- Detailed fitting instructions
The supplied 76 mm silicone connector keeps the larger diameter all the way through to the induction pipe, so the flow gains are not lost after the elbow.

In the words of the Vehicle Standards Agency (VCA), type approval provides "confirmation that production and samples of a design will meet specified performance standards".
For emissions components this encompasses noise, emissions and balanced back pressure, which have a strong influence on maintaining engine performance (power), and fuel efficiency. Type approval ensures that an aftermarket component will reach, or exceed the performance standard of the corresponding OE part.
Type-approval then, is a certain guarantee that an end user will receive a product of OE equivalent performance attributes.
